About this event
FRIDAY NIGHT DINNER
Dia de Los Muertos - The Day of the Dead.
Please join us for this special celebration of good spirit, good food, and good people.
For the Mexican people, this is a joyful remembrance of good times, family, heritage, and a chance to pay their respects to their ancestors. In keeping with that spirit, we are erecting a traditional Ofrenda for the evening. An Ofrenda, or "offering", is a traditional altar meant to welcome the spirit of loved ones who have passed on to join in the celebration and be honored. Candles, flowers, skulls, Catrinas, bits of bread, strong drink, and photographs of departed loved ones make up the arrangement.
We encourage you to bring appropriate items to add to the Ofrenda, including photos of family and friends who have passed on...but remember to have a story about them to tell that they would love to have told. In the spirit of the day, no one well remembered is ever really lost.
Really want to embrace the tradition of Dia de Muertos? Then consider Catrina face painting! For just $100 you can have your face painted in traditional Katrina style. Come early because it takes a while! Open 3 -7pm
Tonight's special entrees are:
Veracruz Tamales (wrapped in banana leaves instead of corn husks), beans and sopa fría (macaroni salad).
For dessert, we will have the traditional Pan de Muerto - Bread of the Dead - with a warm cup of Champurrado...a chocolate-based corn slurry, mixed with Mexican brown sugar, milk and cinnamon...think Mayan hot cocoa - Delicious!
From the bar... Buck is planning some dessert shots.
